Hey there, guitar player. Welcome to the strange and beautiful world of banjo. That's right, we don't need wooden sound boards; we make do with parts we've stolen from your drummer. And now here you are, hypnotized by the sound of our instrument. I guess a lifetime of amplifiers and distortion pedals or classical guitars and dreadnoughts would bore us too. So here is the most precious gift we can give you:
A banjo!
But this is a special banjo in that it is set up to be played exactly like your guitar. And it is also special in the way that it is not like all the other banjo-guitars on the market - it is actually a nice sounding great playing instrument. It is built in California by the folks at Deering Banjo Company - folks who do nothing build great banjos.
Deering has been producing banjos under the name of Vega ( a historically significant name with many original styles) for quite a while now, but we were very excited to see this particular one. Like the 5-string version, it features a rolled brass tone-hoop between the renaissance head and the maple rim. All of these elements combine for a great sound with firm definition and the banjo ring you so utterly crave.
But what it also great is that with the hoop (instead of a full tone ring) and open back design it both weighs very little and falls in a very comfortable price range. So it's perfect. Strum it and sing like Neil Young (if you have the vocal range, that is. Don't hurt yourself). Fingerpick it like Taj Mahal. Flatpick it like Doc Watson. Slide it like David Lindley. Lead a Sing-Along like John Sebastian - it doesn't matter! There are No Limits!!!!
Comes with a case and eternal happiness*.
As John Hartford said,
"A Banjo can get you through times of no money, but money can't get you through times of no Banjo."
*No guarantees on the eternal happiness thing. Most of that's up to you, but we'll help however we can.
