Connie has lived in Kentucky all her life and has called Louisville her home for 35 years.  Her love of music began even before she was able to start piano lessons at the age of nine.  She studied with private teachers throughout her school years and began college at Morehead State University as a piano major.  She started teaching piano at 16 and has continued to give private lessons periodically throughout the years.

Connie is an expert in many different styles of music and has played in many different groups and situations.  Classical, church/gospel, country, pop, and show tunes are all in her repertoire.  After developing an interest in jazz, she studied with local professional musicians and went on to found her own trio, quartet, and quintet.

Currently, she is the pianist in Swing Street, a local 17-piece big band.  She has worked at several churches in the area and played at most country clubs and restaurant venues in the city.

Since she has recently retired from teaching Math and English at duPont Manual High School, Connie has time to return to her love of teaching music.  She is looking forward to helping other musicians develop their music skills at her studio at Steilberg String Instruments.
